Consider the following statement: Our children know that we argue. They saw it all the time when we were together. Why should it be any different now? If I don’t stand up for myself when he/she [the other parent] criticizes me in front of the children, they’ll think he/she is right, and they won’t have any respect for me. Children should not be exposed to the adult dispute between their parents.
